wedding in the heart of Amsterdam

The wedding ceremony, dinner and party were held at the “The Grand”. A beautiful hidden romantic hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. We loved the idea that we could welcome our guests from abroad to stay with us the night before and have all the wedding festivities at the same place and end the day after with breakfast with all our family and close friends in an intimate setting.

I fell in love with the open back and the beautiful lace of the wedding dress straight away. I tried it on and it was love at first sight.

We got married in the Marriage chamber of “The Grand” hotel, the former city hall of Amsterdam.

We’ve both lived abroad for quite some time and nowadays we’re living in the countryside of the Netherlands, but Amsterdam feels most like home.

It was a beautiful sunny day with a small group of friends and family. After the ceremony the fresco stained doors were opened and overlooked the beautiful garden and we celebrated our love with cake and champagne. The festivities continued indoors in the Aldermans chamber where there is a Dutch tradition where fiends and family hold speeches during dinner. From the room where we had dinner you could see the evening guests coming in and gathered at the Admiralty chamber where we held the evening party.

I went for a cascade wedding bouquet with gypsophila and orchids, that would match my dress.

I wanted to keep it romantic and simple, because the venue itself already had much grandeur of its own.
Yes, for the evening party I went for a minimal satin look so I could dance the night away in a more comfortable dress.
Take a deep breath in, let go off the little things and make it about the two of you and try to enjoy this beautiful day as much as you can.
