what was your wedding location?
We held our wedding celebration at the magical Maryhill Estate. Located in Glumslöv, Skåne, with a view of the beautiful Öresund, our summer paradise Ven, and our current home Denmark, we fell head over heels for Maryhill Estate as a symbolic place for our shared love journey.

how did your wedding morning look like?
We started the day with a bath in the suite. We ordered room service to enjoy breakfast on the balcony, just the two of us. We saw it as a perfect opportunity to savor the beautiful suite, share some heartfelt words, and feel the calm before the storm, before separating to get ready individually. It was a magical moment, and having this intimate time to gather ourselves before the day's many experiences felt wonderful. Highly recommended!

tell us about your wedding dress
I tried on about 7 dresses in 30 minutes, but as soon as I put on this one from Malina, I was completely sure. It was so me - sleek, simple, with a certain elegance from its high neck and a subtly sexy open back. I felt it instantly, and a gentle tear fell down my cheek as it felt overwhelming to find a dress that felt so right for me.

what was your favorite memory of the day?
Our shared favorite memory is looking out from the balcony at the magical view and seeing all our family and friends gathered in one place for our sake. It gave an indescribable feeling of love and warmth from the wonderful people around us. It was very powerful and something you only experience once in a lifetime. Even though we had just over 100 people, it felt so intimate and personal.

what was the best part about getting married at maryhill?
I am in love with Maryhill. The view, the beautiful setting and facilities, the food, the staff - everything is absolutely fantastic!

what is your favorite details with you wedding look?
I really loved the high neck, the open back, and the classic buttons on the back of the dress. I like to have my hair styled sleek, so I went with that to avoid looking too "sweet." My veil had small sewn pearls, which lightened up the slightly strict hair look. All the accessories were a bit chunky: I wore hoops with small pearls, an incredibly beautiful ring I borrowed from my wonderful grandmother, and shoes with a wide and high heel.

what did your bridesmaids wear?
The bridesmaids had a color code to follow, but the rest was up to them. I wanted all three to feel beautiful, comfortable, and like themselves - they were all magically beautiful.

where was the wedding ceremony?
The wedding ceremony took place at Raus Church in Råå. It is very lovely, light, and has small painted hearts on the ceiling. We walked in to traditional bridal march music but exited to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole to create a warm atmosphere where everyone could join in our joy - which they really did; all the guests sang, applauded, and vibed with us. It was truly a special moment in our lives.

what food and drinks did you serve the guests?
We wanted a modern menu that stayed within the bounds of classic, timeless, and festive to reflect the setting we were in.
For the mingle, bubbles flowed with three canapés featuring classic flavors with a twist: a vegetarian option with beetroot and goat cheese cream, one with terrine, and toast skagen.
For the starter, we had Swedish beef tartare with tarragon, tomatoes from Viken, grilled onions, and garden herbs, served with sourdough bread and butter on mini cloches.
For the main course, we enjoyed baked redfish from Bohuslän with split peas, beans, and sandefjord sauce with dill and horseradish, along with fresh potatoes from Glumslöv to add a simple social dining element at the tables.
The dessert was an incredible finale to the meal! It consisted of Swedish strawberries with rhubarb, white chocolate mousse, crispy meringues, and elderflower and lemon gel that broke up the sweetness with its tart and floral note.
Finally, we served a late-night snack after all the festivities: classic Skåne wienerkorv with bread and traditional sides.

how did you celebrate during the evening?
The entire day felt like one big celebration, with shots flowing during dinner—but it officially kicked off after our first dance. We danced to "Stand By Me," and then the doors to the dance floor and bar opened. Maryhill might be an old castle, but in a hidden corner of the castle is a room that truly feels like a nightclub. We had hired “Sax on the Beat,” a DJ and saxophonist duo, to mix the transition from the waltz to the party and get things going. It was so appreciated by our guests and created an amazing atmosphere.

what advice do you have for other couples planning their wedding?
Our biggest recommendation is to plan things well in advance but, most importantly, to enjoy the planning process leading up to the wedding. Putting on your most positive mindset and trying to make each planning moment fun can truly make the journey to your wedding incredibly enjoyable! We often changed environments and planned everything on diffrent locations- in the car on the way to work, early mornings, late evenings at wine bars, and had did also had a weekend with our toastmaster couple in Copenhagen.
If you’re creatively inclined, I highly recommend other couples design, sketch, fix, restore thrift finds, choose flowers from local florists or family/friends, spray paint—just dive in and do it yourself. We spent a lot of time and energy on small details that we enjoyed and that added a personal touch to the celebration.
