where did the wedding preparations take room?
According to Dutch tradition, there's a 'Wedding party group,' where a few close friends or relatives are assigned specific tasks ahead of the wedding. We chose to plan our entire wedding day ourselves, with three of our closest friends providing support in our 'Wedding party group.' This made the planning of our wedding both fun and easy, and we were able to create a day that truly reflected us as a couple.

tell us everything about your wedding dress
I wanted an elegant and trendy wedding dress from Swedish design. I knew right away when I saw the Malina wedding dress that it was the one I would get married in. When I tried it on for the first time, it was just 'YES' from everyone around me, which further reinforced my choice of dress.

what was your choice of bridal accessories and bridesmaids dresses?
I chose a short veil with a simple design to accentuate the beautiful back of my dress. I wore my mother's pearl earrings that she wore on her wedding day. Additionally, I wore a blue emerald ring that I inherited from my grandmother, who is no longer with us but has always been a source of inspiration for my style. It was obvious to me to have her with me on my wedding day. For my bridesmaids, we chose yellow dresses from Adoore.

what did you love the most with your bridal dress?
What I loved most about my wedding dress was not only its beauty with its exquisite details but also how incredibly comfortable it was to wear. It felt like it was molded to my body, and I never wanted to take it off! Being able to feel so comfortable and beautiful at the same time really made the whole wedding day even more special.

where was your wedding location and why did you choose this place?
We chose to get married in Jordaan, Amsterdam, which gave a local touch to our wedding, with the city's atmosphere as a backdrop. The ceremony took place first in the magnificent Posthoornkerk, followed by a memorable wedding dinner and party at Het West-Indisch Huis. The best part was that it was within walking distance between the venues, which made it absolutely perfect for us and our guests to smoothly transition from one part of the celebration to the next.

what was the best part of having a city wedding in amsterdam?
Amsterdam is a stunningly beautiful city with greenery, flowers, and canals. Having lived here for over 5 years, it felt natural to have the wedding in this city where my partner and I first met and fell in love. The best thing about Amsterdam is its compact size, which allowed all the wedding guests to either cycle or walk home after the party. It added an extra touch of convenience and charm to our special occasion.

how did you celebrate after the venue?
After the ceremony, the festivities began with a pre-drink in the courtyard, where guests could mingle and enjoy the atmosphere. Then we proceeded to dinner in one of the venue's halls, where we enjoyed a delicious meal surrounded by close friends and family. The party then continued in another hall, where the dancing and celebration lasted late into the night. It was a perfect arrangement that provided different atmospheres for each part of the wedding.

did you have a special theme for table decorations and decor?
I chose to keep it classic with white and green flowers to create a timeless atmosphere. I didn't want to overpower with color, but instead let the wedding guests contribute to the colorful ambiance. These tones were also reflected in the menu and place cards to create a cohesive and harmonious feel throughout the wedding.

was there a moment during the dinner that was extra special too you?
During the wedding dinner, my bridesmaids arranged a fantastic surprise - they set up typical Swedish midsummer games and organized a competition between Sweden and the Netherlands. Chris and I had the honor of participating, but all the wedding guests got involved. It truly became a memorable celebration and an experience that I doubt I will ever get to experience again at any other wedding. It was something truly special, a memory for life.

what advice do you have for other couples planning their wedding?
Planning well in advance and involving many in the process is the key to a successful wedding. Sharing the preparations with loved ones not only makes it fun but also more memorable for everyone involved. Sure, there may be unforeseen events along the way, but that's part of the experience! Everything always works out in the end! Most importantly, remember to have fun during the preparations!
